"The ISRA announced today that the association fully supports the proposed opening of a gun shop and pistol range in a shuttered Niles, IL industrial building. At the same time, the ISRA is categorizing claims by gun control groups that gun shops and ranges pose a danger to the community as being, 'unsubstantiated nonsense.'
'The notion that school kids are somehow placed in jeopardy by gun shops is a red herring fabricated by extremists within the gun control movement,' commented ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson. 'Their goal is to whip up baseless fear among residents so as to build opposition to the proposed gun shop. There is absolutely no evidence out there that even remotely connects target ranges or gun retailers with violence against children. People who shoot up schoolhouses do it because they are crazy - not because there is a pistol range in the neighborhood.'"
